Overview
Preface: Yonex Tour editions have always been controversial. Some people think they are pure cash-grabs, but when certain Yonex high-end models went from around 499, 750, 699, 850, and 800 yuan (I will not name names) up to 1499, 1200, 2500, 3000, even 8000 yuan (SP prices fluctuate), some Tour models are still a solid choice. The better Tours keep the Pro's core technology at a lower price and are easier to pick up. Overseas, Tour rackets are sold as high-end products. This post also covers some Tours to avoid (prices fluctuate). 1. Astrox 88D/S Tour The Tour costs only about half of the Pro, yet the feel is around eighty to ninety percent of it—and it is easier to handle than the original Pro. It is like two bowls of soup from the same chef: one with dried tangerine peel, one without, but the one without costs half as much while everything else is the same. Unless you taste very carefully, it is hard to tell them apart at first glance—that is exactly how the 88 Tour feels to me. Reference first-hand price: 700–800 yuan. Pro first-hand price: 1600–1700 yuan (JP). 2. Arcsaber 11 Tour (new colour) The Tour again costs only about half of the Pro. The Arcsaber 11 Pro was already an easy racket to use, so the Tour needs little explanation. The difference in feel between Tour and Pro is actually easier to notice. Most of the Pro's technology is retained on the Tour. The Tour gives up some of the Pro's control, but that high clear still carries a smooth, refined quality. It suits beginners who cannot afford the Pro—but at this price you could also look at comparable Li-Ning or Victor alternatives. I would suggest buying a used Tour. Tour: 700–800 yuan. Pro: 1700–1800 yuan (JP). Used Tour: 400–700 yuan. There is more in the next post. Welcome everyone to share your own views in the comments. On Yonex Tours worth buying (middle part).
