Overview

The Nanoflare 700 was the first racket in the Nanoflare line — still widely discussed from launch day, especially among women. Plenty of female pros have wielded it internationally. Five years after the original, gen two debuted at the Paris Olympics on Korean star Chae Yu-jeong, then launched properly in September. As the sequel to the series opener, it brings a full upgrade round. Can it carry the first generation's momentum? I was keen to find out.

Paint

The new Nanoflare 700 line comes in two colours: midnight purple and silver/sky blue. PRO is midnight purple only; TOUR, GAME, and PLAY get both. I tested midnight purple Nanoflare 700 PRO and sky blue Nanoflare 700 TOUR. Unlike earlier symmetric Nanoflare paint, gen two goes asymmetric. Midnight purple spreads across a deep, elegant base — restrained, layered — with sunset-like patches on frame and shaft adding gentle warmth. Silver/sky blue shifts mood entirely: mostly silver-grey, light yet substantial, dawn colours, youthful energy. Each colour has its own character — midnight purple elegant and deep, silver/blue lively and agile. Fresh visual language unlike past Nanoflare rackets.

Upgrade highlights

Enhanced Sonic Flare System combines high-modulus EX-HYPER MG carbon at the frame top with tough, elastic M40X carbon at the bottom (PRO). From the string bed to sharp T-joint edges, plus high-modulus carbon at the frame top on select models, the goal is higher rebound — more speed and flight — while calculated carbon placement, volume, and layout also deliver stability and control. Wide frame: Nanoflare's wide frame and sharp fluid shape cut deformation during the swing for better rebound and penetration. SF Filter Layer: epoxy film between carbon layers adds flexibility under pressure, filters unwanted vibration, and gives a clear, soft hitting feel.

On-court testing

First impressions Nanoflare 700 PRO sits close to the original Nanoflare 700 on specs. Empty swings feel very similar — slightly heavier than Nanoflare 800 PRO, shaft hardness in the same medium-stiff band. Hit feedback is softer though: PRO's frame is stiffer, so the crisp spring on impact is more obvious, while swing speed stays about the same. Nanoflare 700 TOUR, as the sub-flagship, aligns toward PRO on paper but feels more head-heavy and slightly firmer — a common TOUR vs PRO gap. Frame and shaft upgrades PRO's crisper frame feel comes mainly from material tuning and the enhanced Sonic Flare system. PRO stringing is not a regular 76-hole layout — one fewer cross at the top lowers bed pressure when the frame is stiffer, balancing fast rebound with a large sweet spot for its target audience of high-level women. The shaft upgrades too. SF Filter material is the key: it cuts harmful vibration so PRO's shaft feedback feels softer — like stepping from first-gen Astrox 88 1G NAMD to third-gen 2G NAMD. Elasticity and fine feedback improve; control gets a bump. High sweet spot, fast rebound — smooth clears With fast rebound and a generous sweet spot, PRO feels crisper under enhanced Sonic Flare. Entry difficulty stays close to gen one, but the shaft's extra elasticity makes contact smoother — you feel the shaft bend, pick up a little more speed and power, and enjoy more comfort. TOUR's heavier head borrows force more easily; its firmer shaft sends shuttles out more directly. Nanoflare is built for fast release, so hold is naturally weak. Slices and reverse slices feel stiff; face hits leave instantly, and finger-and-wrist power converts quickly into forward and downward speed. Fast continuity — mid and front court Gen-two's shaft is softer, but feedback stays clear — net spins, brushes, and fast pushes remain direct, and net pressure is still strong. PRO's shaft rebounds fast and fierce; TOUR's heavier head lags slightly in chains but borrows power more easily, which helps intermediate players cover technique gaps. Flat drive remains a PRO strength. It lacks the raw attack of Nanoflare 800 PRO or Nanoflare 1000Z, but its soft feel is like a thin sword in midcourt chaos — or white silk, hard to read. Excellent control and ultra swing speed pressure opponents. TOUR is less refined than PRO but keeps ultra swing speed and strong drive — close to the original Nanoflare 700. Attack-defence switch — defence strength continues Defence stays a Nanoflare strength: large frame, large sweet spot, high forgiveness. Gen two borrows force a little less, so lifts and defensive clears do not jump as much. PRO is more agile and controlled on splits and drive defence; TOUR borrows more easily on defensive lifts. Strong defence does not mean playing passive. With control and fast swing speed, the next shot after defence comes quickly — pressure the opponent and flip the rally. That is gen-two Nanoflare 700's real defensive secret. Fast swing, fast press — another rear-court attack path Attack is still not Nanoflare's peak. PRO has more shaft elasticity; TOUR is firmer — on-court attack is similar overall, but TOUR's heavier head and firmer shaft borrow better while PRO asks for more active power. TOUR attack feels smoother; PRO chains better thanks to shaft elasticity and rebound. Full-power attack does not gain much, but fine feedback, control, and fast shot speed help fast press and placement build advantage. This is mainly a front-mid racket — drag opponents into your rhythm rather than hunting only rear-court kills. Overall, PRO upgrades frame and shaft versus gen one, adds elasticity, and uses SF Filter to soften feel and refine feedback. TOUR differs in material and tuning but borrows more easily with lower active power demand than PRO.

Closing

Gen-two Nanoflare 700 stands out in the line by design and performance — crisper hits, smoother swings. Entry difficulty stays near gen one; the main work is feel optimisation for a more comfortable experience. PRO offers more elasticity, finer feedback, and better agility and control — recommended for longtime Nanoflare 700 users at high level. TOUR is close to gen one feel with a slightly heavier head, easier borrowing, and a lower technique bar — recommended for intermediate players or anyone wanting new Nanoflare feel at lower cost; high-level players can keep TOUR as a backup.
