Overview

I switched to Power Cushion Comfort Z3 after Aerus Z2 and kept it as a match shoe because the trade-off finally made sense: more weight on the scale, less punishment on landing. Comfort Z3 is not pretending to be a speed shoe. Yonex positions it for players who want Power Cushion absorption first — smash landings, long club nights, knees that complain when forefoot cushioning is thin. Single-shoe weight lands around 370 g in my size; you feel it in the bag and forget it once rallies stretch past an hour. Break-in runs stiffer than Aerus Z2 for the first few sessions — the upper and sidewall want to settle before the shoe feels truly one-piece. After that, the payoff is obvious: heel and midfoot cushioning eat repetitive jump-landings better than any featherweight I have owned. Rear-court full commits do not ricochet up the shin the way ultra-light race shoes sometimes do. Forecourt movement is acceptable for club doubles — not 65Z-snappy, but stable enough for net rushes if you accept slightly slower first step. Wide-fit option matters: if Eclipsion Z3 pinched your forefoot, Comfort Z3's roomier last is the closer Yonex alternative in the current line. Who should buy: players prioritising joint comfort over split-second launch, especially heavier landers and older club regulars. Who should skip: front-court speed specialists who live in 65Z4 or Aerus — you will miss the race-shoe snap. Cross-reference Eclipsion Z3 if you need stability with a tighter performance fit; Comfort Z3 is the cushion-first sibling in Yonex's modern Z3 trio.
