Yonex Astrox 88S Pro (2024) review

Founder current racket (Rui, Div 4 IE, doubles front-court): very good balanced racket, recommended for most players. Feels close to Astrox 77 Pro but with a stiffer shaft — better when you have the timing to load it.

BadmintonCN: the BadmintonCN reviewer's review (Apr 2024)

4U sample 84.3g unstrung, 89.5g strung w/ 80@26-28lb, balance 301mm. Frame one size bigger than 88DP New Color, slightly shorter handle and overall length. Shaft hardness similar to NF800 Pro, slightly stiffer than 77 Pro. Has clear pocketing feel even at 80 strung @ 26-28lb. Best for mixed doubles control: drops, hairpins, pushes, precise placement. Smash quality surprised reviewer — better than red/white old 88S and Victor Thruster 9000. Better than red/white 88S in rear-court stability and pocketing.

BadmintonCN: the BadmintonCN reviewer's control-racket positioning (Jan 2026)

Considered the strongest control-balance racket currently. Beats all Li-Ning Halberds plus Arcsaber 11 Pro for combined control + smash. Same shaft hardness range as 9000P (~7.5-7.6 on the YuanShi creator's deflection rig, lower = stiffer), but very different feel: pocketing makes it ideal for mixed doubles where every shot must be solid, vs 9000P's crisp speed-rack profile.
