Overview
The longer you play badminton, the more you appreciate shoes that look good and perform on court. The Kawasaki Twilight delivered surprises from appearance through match play.
Design
Two colourways: white-purple and white-grey. Test colourway: white-grey (EU 42). Simple tech-forward design—clean white upper with dark accent lines. Works for court and casual wear. Standout detail: dial lock replaces traditional laces. Smooth silhouette; collar height wraps ankle without over-restricting—low-key, durable-looking, not flashy.
Materials and technology
Multi-layer mesh with dense vents moves heat quickly for less stuffy long sessions. High-rebound EVA midsole with dedicated shock structure absorbs jump and hard-stop impact, easing ankle and knee load. Built-in carbon fibre anti-torsion plate stabilises the arch on fast direction changes and lateral steps. Dense wear-resistant rubber outsole grips well on hard stops and first steps. Dial system: pull to loosen, turn to tighten—fast on/off and precise fit.
On-court experience
After seven or eight sessions—competitive and casual—performance feels well balanced. Dial gives tight wrap; feet stay locked without sliding on movement and stops—secure but not pinching. Soft mesh avoids hot spots; feet stay relatively dry. Cushioning absorbs impact quickly on landings; repeated rear-court jumps and lateral moves did not stress ankles or knees noticeably. Carbon anti-torsion excellent on quick cuts; crisp power transfer. Outsole grip strong—no slip on stops or launches.
Verdict
Strong all-round shoe: quick dial fit, carbon anti-torsion, cushioning, breathability, grip, and stability—with looks that work off court. Beginner training or advanced match play both suit. If you want good looks, balanced performance, and low hassle, Twilight is worth trying.
